We were none the wiser after our office intern tried to explain what the kids mean by “ratchet” these days, so we’ll stick with the old definition for this (64)-piece ratcheting screwdriver set by RoadPro. Has an 8" ratcheting reversible screwdriver with an 8" flex shaft, (2) driver settings, magnetic tip and many bits, none of them naughty. Unlike those hotel-room bathrobes, this clever devil of a 54 steel rod universal socket really does fit all, at least nuts between 1/4" and 3/4" (7mm-19mm) along with sundry other non-nut shapes that you might need to turn, like cup hooks and wing-nuts. Fits a 3/8" hex driver, comes with a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter and measures 2-1/2" long x 1-1/2" dia.

For these pliers--known at lineman’s pliers, TLs or combination pliers--the combination is a blunt nose, flat serrated gripper, rounded gripper and cutting jaws, in that order. Ours is a quality tool from Tolsen Tools, 8” long in nickel-plated steel with plastic-coated handles.

You need this. Anybody who's ever made a third trip to the hardware store on the same day needs this. Pick a pair of mini pliers, each set small enough to tuck into your pocket without causing a limp. You pick: the regular pliers pair has one standard pliers with grooved jaws and one slip-joint pliers, the ones we can't use the word channel about, both approx 4” long with padded handles; or the pair of locking pliers, the ones we can't use the word vice about, one blunt-nosed with grooved jaws at 4-1/4” long, and one needle-nosed at 5” long. All are nickel-plated, drop-forged, and heat-treated.

First of all, this adjustable wrench has a super-handy 0-3/4” x 1/16” rule that functions as an outside caliper on one side, with a 0-25mm x 1mm version on the other. And it’s an 8" drop-forged steel adjustable wrench that opens to a maximum of 1-1/16”. It’s a handy tool, to be sure.
