Use this little stainless beauty to teach teenagers and older students how heat engines work Then keep it on your desk, where you deserve to have it! This low-temperature-differential Stirling engine is beautifully machined. It works with hot water, ice water, a combination of hot water with ice cubes, or a hair dryer. It measures 5-3/4" tall with a 3-5/8" dia flywheel and a 3-1/2" dia x 7/8" tall base. The speed with hot water is approx 150 rpm. This is a real showpiece, the best we've ever seen at this price. Sextants came along after astrolabes but before GPS. (Just like you.) They're used for finding latitude and the distance between objects, and are still the non-electric, non-satellite-dependent backup for navigators. Ours is a beauty in solid brass with glass optical components, at a tiny price. Measures approx 4-5/8" x 4-1/4" x 3-1/4" overall and comes in a very nice wooden case. Includes instructions, which you're going to need unless you went to Annapolis where they still teach it. Handy for learning the principles of how a sextant works, but please don't try to find your way to Bora Bora with it, this one is more decorative than accurate.
OK, glass with blue LEDs, but still. This is a Newton’s Cradle, always seen with steel ball bearings, but this time with frosted glass balls glowing a stunning bright blue while they swing on wires and prove Newton’s Third Law, and if you have to look that up you shouldn’t be reading this catalog in the first place. Just kidding--it says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. You knew that. Newton would have ordered multiples of this beauty for all of his friends. Measures 7-3/4" tall on a 7" x 6" base with the standard (5) globes. You add (6) “AA” batteries for the glow.

Our laser combo pack scores you two pen-shaped
5mW laser pointers, (1) each in stopping red and going green. These colors are
also perfect for Christmas, St. Patrick's Day and St. Valentine's Day. Oh, and
nautical situations. The housing is flat black or silver with a gold pocket
clip and head. The 532nm Class IIIa green light is 5-5/8" long x 1/2"
dia, with a momentary-on switch. It's brighter than the red so it's perfect for
all daytime pointer needs. The red is 5-1/4" long, and its mellow red
light makes it more suitable for board room presentations but we've thrown ours
two blocks at night, no problem. Green or red, whatever you do, don't cross the
streams. Each pointer takes (2) "AAA" batteries, which are included.
